The Kansas City Coding Institute understands the importance of ongoing education for all of our students, and we pride ourselves in our ability to teach not to a class, but to a group comprised of unique individuals. Our classes offer individual and group participation to further enhance the education experience.
The Medical Coding Training Curriculum is designed to present essential information for health care coding systems and covers the skills necessary to become a successful medical coder. The completion of this class will meet one of the requirements to sit for the certified professional coding examination.
Course Resources
The PMCC utilizes the Step-by-Step Medical Coding textbook and workbook by Carol Buck, CPC, CPC-H, CPC-I, CCS-P. The text is divided into three units to study coding involved in the CPT manual, ICD-9 CM manual and the HCPCS manual. An overview of reimbursement is also reviewed. In-text exercises and end of chapter review exercises further reinforce the concepts learned in class lectures and the textbook curriculum. A workbook is also utilized and supplements the text with more than 1000 questions for the students practical application of coding guidelines.
